Two accidents dominate forklift and yard-machinery statistics — reversing into a pedestrian, and crushing a load against a rack or a wall. Both are visibility problems, and both are solved by putting a camera where the operator cannot look.

The engineering requirements are different from a road vehicle. Vibration is sharper and more frequent. The camera is often mounted low, close to the ground, where dust and spray are worst. And there is rarely a convenient place to run a cable through a mast. Our forklift and agriculture range addresses all three: magnetic or clamp mounting, IP69K sealing, 5.9G shock-rated bodies, and wireless options where cabling is impractical.

Common forklift and yard camera positions

Mast / carriage — looks at the fork tips and the load. On a counterbalance truck this is the camera that prevents rack and racking damage. Magnetic mounting is usually enough and lets the operator move it.
Rear counterweight — covers the reversing blind spot behind the truck, which is where pedestrian incidents happen. Pair it with an audible reverse alarm so the two warnings reinforce each other.
Above the load (high-lift trucks) — for reach trucks in narrow aisles, a camera looking down the mast helps the operator place a pallet accurately at height.
Trailer or container edge — a camera on the dock or on the vehicle shows the gap the driver cannot see when reversing onto a bay.

Why we rate forklift cameras at 5.9G shock

A forklift camera experiences repeated, sharp shock events every working day: mast impacts, driving over thresholds, and loads being dropped. A camera mounted on a rigid bracket with a plastic housing will eventually crack a solder joint or a lens retention ring. Our yard range uses shock-rated mounting and metal bodies for that reason, and the magnetic base includes a compliant interface that absorbs the short-duration spikes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move the camera between forklifts?

Yes, on the magnetic models. The JPC-100F and the wireless kits are designed to be lifted off one machine and placed on another in seconds, which suits yards where the machine assigned to a task changes daily.

Will the camera survive pressure washing?

IP69 and IP69K models will, provided the connector is mated and the sealing surfaces are intact. Wash down a warm camera carefully — thermal shock is harder on seals than the water itself. Avoid directing the jet straight at the connector boot.

Does the work light drain the battery?

The JPC-146 work light is a 12V vehicle-rated LED drawing broadly comparable current to a standard work lamp. Wire it through an ignition-switched circuit so it cannot flatten the battery when the machine is parked.
